After a successful campaign at the Asia Cup 2025, Abhishek Sharma’s joy is going to be further multiplied as his sister is all set to tie the knot in the coming days. “It is a matter of pride that my brother Abhishek has won the Asia Cup tournament. We have brought the trophy home, and we are all very happy. I really wanted this gift from my brother before my marriage. I knew deep inside that India was going to win this…” Komal said.
“Everyone is very happy at home. People are congratulating us. I am very proud of my son. This is for the entire country. My son is playing really well, and the entire team has performed very well,” said Abhishek’s mother, Manju, to ANI. On Wednesday, the young opener was seen dancing to the beats of bhangra during his sister Komal Sharma’s pre-wedding festivities in Ludhiana, alongside mentor and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
“We are all very proud and happy that Abhishek Sharma was awarded Man of the Tournament in the Asia Cup. It is a very big thing,” Abhishek’s father, Raj Kumar, said. The left-hander was the leading runscorer in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025, where he amassed 314 runs from seven games. The start he has given India up top essentially has rattled the opposition in the powerplay.

“I mean, of course, getting into this team after winning the World Cup, it wasn’t easy for any opener. But if you see, we had a plan that we wanted to play a game, you know, that we have to show intent from the first ball. So that was my plan, I worked really hard on that. And if you’re playing like this, you need special support from your coach and captain,” Abhishek said after receiving the Player Of The Match award.
“I think that was the one thing I was getting from them throughout the tournament, before this as well. So obviously, my plan was pretty much clear that, you know, if I do well, if I get that impact, and it’s for my team, my team should win. Of course, I mean, if you want to play something like this, sometimes you will fail, but you have to keep the process going. And, you know, that’s what I was getting from my team as well,” he added.
