Australia allrounder Cameron Green who is expected to be one of the players in the centre of attention in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, said that a bit of confusion with his manager resulted him being registered as a batter instead of in the allrounders bracket. Green, who returned to international cricket as a specialist batter after his injury, has since been cleared to bowl.

“I’ll be good to bowl. I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end,” he was quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
Green, who had missed the 2025 IPL season due to an injury, has a base price of Rs 2 crore this time around. “I’m sure I will be (watching), with a few other guys. They’re always good fun to watch. It’s a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it’s always been fun to watch,” he said.

The lanky all-rounder previously represented Mumbai Indians in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024. Green had been traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru from Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.50 crore could not make an impact for the franchise, scoring just 255 runs in 13 matches and snapping up 10 wickets in 2024. RCB eventually released him ahead of the 2025 auctions due to the player being unable to take part in the tournament due to an injury.
Green was diagnosed with a lower back injury during an ODI series in England and was even ruled out February’s Test tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
This year’s auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16 with big names like Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Josh Inglis, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Duckett, Liam Livingstone, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway among the biggest names in the overseas players’ list.
