Virat Kohli notched yet up another landmark in his beloved 50-over format in his comeback game for Delhi against Andhra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Kohli recorded a major milestone with his first run of the 299-run chase , completing 16,000 List A runs in his 343-match 50-over career. Kohli became only the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and the ninth man overall to complete 16,000 runs in the format, with his 57.34 ranking the highest among all batters in the bracket.

Approaching 20 years into his List A career, Kohli had made his debut in the format in February 2006 for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy One-Day tournament at the Feroz Shah Kotla. He did not bat in that game.

Kohli has since appeared in 16 more matches for Delhi in the 50-over circuit, racking up 910 runs at an average of 60.66 with four centuries and as many fifties. Kohli last appeared in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2010-11 season where he was captain of the side. Kohli later represented Delhi in the 50-over NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in 2013-14 when the side lost in the final to India Blue.
Still behind Tendulkar
Kohli had recently extended his dominance in the ODI format during the three-match South Africa series, racking up two hundreds in succession to take his centuries tally to a whopping 53, four ahead of Tendulkar. However, he remains still three short of Tendulkar’s century tally in overall List-A cricket with the Mumbai batting legend leading the charts with 60 hundreds to Kohli’s 57, while amassing 21,999 runs in his career.
